Daily Makeup Routine: Getting ready for work (Summer 2014)

For this tutorial I'll be showing you how I do my daily makeup routine that is suitable for school, work or an everyday simple look.  This is my usual routine I do when getting ready for work in the morning.

Before and After

Step 1
After I cleanse my face I like to pat on the "Innisfree Soybean Energy Essence"

Step 2
I apply a aloe vera gel from "Nature Republic" and a sun protecting lotion from "Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen Lotion"

Step 3
Now that the weather is warmer I like to use a light foundation, what I'm using is the "Holika Holika Aqua Petit BB Cream" mixing it with the "Makeup Forever Face & Body Liquid Makeup"  As you can tell both shades does not match my skin tone at all, one is too light and the other is too dark so when I mix them together I get my own perfect shade :)

Step 4
I just use a regular sponge wedge to apply them

Step 5
Next I apply a concealer on trouble areas and under my eye.  I'm using the "Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Concealer"

Step 6
Apply a finishing powder, I'm using the "Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder"

Step 7
Apply any blush of your choice, I'm using this peachy pink blush from "BH Cosmetics in Daisy"

Step 8
Time for the eyes!  Apply an eyeshadow primer, I'm using the "Too Faced Shadow Insurance"

Step 9
For eyeshadow I'm using "Stila Eyeshadow trio in Bronze Glow"  I apply a light shade all over the lid, then a gold shade on the crease and a dark brown shade on the outer corner.

Step 10
Apply eyeliner, I'm using the "Makeup Forever Aqua Liner in Matte Black"

Step 11
To make my eyes pop and look more youthful I like to apply a shimmery gold eyeshadow from the "E.L.F Prism palette in Naked"

Step 12
Instead of applying eyeliner on the lower lid I use a matte taupe pencil liner by "Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner"

Step 13
Curl lashes and coat them with mascara, I'm using the "Majolica Majorca Lash Enamel Glamour Volume"

Finish Eye Makeup Look

Step 14
Fill in eyebrows, using "The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit in 03"

Step 15
Finally apply some lippies, I'm using the "Etude House Cherry Tint in #3 Cherry Peach" and topped it off with a "Revlon Super Lustrous in Coral Reef"

Final Look
After changing my clothes :)

As always thank you all for reading, if you have any questions or comments please leave them in the comment section.

Current makeup favorites

1)      Tony Moly Blush in Milky Violet
This year I’ve been into light pastel colored blushes and even mixing them with my neon pink shade blushes to give it a glowy youthful look.  I’ve tried milky pink shades but so far the ones with a purple tone look really nice on my skin.

2)      E.L.F Finishing Powder in Corrective Yellow
This is a great power to set your overall makeup look and it makes my skin look much brighter and smoother.  The best part is it’s so much cheaper than other brands out there.  It originally comes in a black packaging but I transfer the powder to a clear jar for two reasons, one so it can fit in my drawer and second so I can see the product.

3)      Revlon Color Stay Whipped Creme Makeup
I’ve been obsessed with BB Cream that I completely ignored regular foundation and even sold a lot of them on my blog sale.  However to be honest BB Cream doesn’t give me enough coverage as a foundation would so I manage to go through my makeup stash and found my only foundation that I still kept and I’m glad I didn’t sold it!  Just like their Colorstay liquid foundation that I use to love this one applies real nicely on my skin and lasted for an entire day.  Maybe one day I’ll pick up the liquid foundation and use it again.

4)      Sonia Kashuk Sheer Liquid Tint in Poppy
I manage to purchase this item on sale at target for around $2.00 since they’re discontinued.  I really like the nice coral color look on my cheeks especially during the summer and it never faded or melt off my skin on days that were humid and hot.  For this product I only need a tiny bit for both my cheeks!

5)      Mac So Sweet,  So Easy Cream Blush
Another of one of my obsession for milky pink blushes, I like to use this cream blush as my base before I apply powder blushes.

6)      Skinfood Salmon Concealer
I purchase this concealer on ebay for around $10.  It’s very creamy so a little goes a long way, it’s not heavy coverage but its buildable.

1)      Etude House Cherry Fresh Tint in “Peach”
I wanted to get the Benefit Cha Cha tint since I’ve already enjoyed their Posie Tint but I didn’t want to spend a hefty $30 for another tint so I decided to try the Etude House as it was so much cheaper.  So far I really like the coral shade on my lips compare to pink shades.

2)      The Body Shop Brow and Liner Kit in “Dark Brown/Black
I’m still a rookie when it comes to doing my eyebrows so I’m trying to find all the good brow products in the market.  So far this Body Shop brow duo is working well for me and matches my brow and hair color perfectly without looking too dark or light.

3)      Missha The Style Perfect Eyebrow Styler in “Gray Brown”
Another good brow product I like but in a pencil form, this one is so much more convenient to apply in the morning when I’m in a rush.  The only dislike I have on this product is the lead part keeps sliding off the tube!

Skincare recommendations for Fall - Winter Seasons (Combination to Dry Skin)

As the cold seasons slowly creeping its way into the east coast, my skin will start to lose its moisture and produce less oil and that means dry skin.  As of now I'm starting to use more hydrating skincare into my everyday routine to stay moisturized.  I change my products around most of the time, I'm not the kind of person that stay loyal to one thing however if I do find something my skin really enjoy I will continue to repurchase until I find something else better.

So far these following items I feel does the job well on my skin.  Please note that everyone's skin is different, what may work well for me doesn't mean it would work well for you, please do your research before trying out a new product.

Cleansers
It is very important to use a gentle non-drying cleansers for dry skin.  Every morning and night I enjoy using the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and to remove my makeup I use the Kose Softymo Speedy Cleaning Oil at night.

Where to purchase: Kose Softymo Speedy Cleaning Oil can be purchased at Sasa.com

Toners
Most people skip toners in their skincare regime thinking it does nothing but if you use a hydrating toner, I think it makes a big difference for hydrating dry skin.  I use the Haruhada Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Skin Lotion as a toner or sometimes I like to spray the Etude House Collagen Moistfull Essence In Primer all over the face.

Where to Purchase: Both at Sasa.com

Serums
Another important step in skincare that is usually ignored is a good hydrating serum.  The two I enjoy using the most is De Herbs Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the 40 Carrots Carrot + C Vitamin Serum.

Where to Purchase: De Herbs at Sasa.com, 40 Carrots at any health food shops or online.

Moisturizers
As a day moisturizer I enjoy using the Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 40, it is very important to use SPF all 4 seasons.  For night time I use the Sibu Sea Buckthorn daytime facial cream or the Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic AHA.

Where to Purchase: Josie Maran at Sephora, Sibu at any health food shops or online and Alpha Hydrox at Ulta

Extra care and Mask
One or two times a week if my skin needs a extra boost of hydration I like to add a sleeping night cream or a sheet mask.  I use all time favorite the Missha Misa Golden Snowflake Overnight Cream and the My Scheming Deep Ocean Water Mask.

Where to Purchase: Missha at Misshaus.com, My Scheming at Sasa.com

Eyecream
For eye cream I love using the Missha Misa Golden Snowflake eyecream, very emollient and moisturizing under my eye.

Where to Purchase: Misshaus.com

Haul: Korean Cosmetics and My Scheming Masks

My Scheming Masks
I took a trip to Chinatown New York and got 3 boxes of face mask since they were really cheap that I only paid 3 for $19.99.  I was a little skeptical at first wondering if they're real or fake but after standing in the store and inspecting the box for a long time while the sales lady staring at me the whole time I can confirm that it's real lol.  They also had a lot of My Beauty Diary and other brands but I decided to get them next time.

The Face Shop
While in Chinatown I stop by The Face Shop and got two sleeping masks pact to try.  Last year I got their Aqua Drop Sleeping mask and I really enjoyed using it.

Missha
Last month Misshaus.com had a friends and family sale going on so I ordered almost their whole Super Aqua Snail line and received plenty face mask as a free gift.  I read so many positive reviews on their Snail line so I wanted to give it a try.  So far I tried their Cell Renew Snail Cream and I absolutely love it!  If you're interested right now at Misshaus.com the snail line is on sale for 30% along with other products they offer, the sale ends 9/2
Super Aqua Snail Slime Set
Super Aqua Snail Slime BB Cream and Eyelash Curler

RoseRoseShop.com
I got MORE blushes added to my makeup collection as if I don't have enough!  Seriously I can't help it I love blushes!  2 from Tony Moly, 3 The Face Shop and 1 Skinfood.  I also got all 4 shades of the Etude House Kissful Tint Chou lip stain.

If you're interested in a review on any of these items or swatches let me know!   Eventually I will review them once I get to play with them long enough.

Thank you for reading and sticking around, sorry for the lack of posts, I will try to make more blog post >.<

Collective Haul: Korean skincare and drugstore goodies

I know I need to stop with these hauls, I keep spending money but some of them were on sale!  still...I can't help myself >_<

Ebay
Holika Holika 3 Second Starter Collegen moisturizer and the Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner.  I really can't wait to try the Freshner, I heard so many positive reviews on it.

Tony Moly Egg Pore collections, I've been very curious on these products and since I have a lot of clog pores on my face I thought I give these a try.  Tony Moly packaging is absolutely adorable, I can see myself reusing them by adding other products in the future ^^

Etude House Face Color Corset blush in Lavender Veil and Tony Moly Crystal Blusher in Milky Violet.  I was inspired by the famous Japanese model Tsubasa Masuwaka blush style where she mix a pastel/milky lavender tone blush with a bright pink blush to achieve a youthful dolly look so I wanted to give these a try since I heard they were affordable dupes of her Dolly Wink blushes.

Sasa
They were offering free shipping on any total so I end up getting this famous Laneige Sleeping pack a try.

Urban Decay
I wanted to try all of their makeup sprays so I got most of them from their sale section on their site.  These were only $12 each compare to $29, it looks like they were getting rid of the old packaging.  So far i tried the All Nighter spray and it's actually pretty good.

 Alpha Hydrox
They had a buy 2 get 1 free on their website so I got a A LOT of their 10% Glycolic AHA Treatment Gel which I tend to go through these stuff pretty quickly in my skincare regime.  I made a review on their lotion version (here) which is similar to the gel formula except it's lighter in texture and good for summer and I only use them at night.

CCO
It's been awhile that I purchase something at the CCO let alone anything from Mac but since I'm in a lavender blush craze I found this one which looks really nice.  The shade is called "Full of Joy" from the Tres Cheek Collection.

Sears
ATTENTION if you live near a Sears department store that also includes an extended drugstore cosmetic area run to your local Sears because all makeup and skincare is 50% off!  Also Sears accept manufacturer coupons (on sunday papers) which they allow you to use them with your purchase, at least mine do.
Now back to what I purchase, I got two Lumene makeup remover, a backup of the Physician's Formula Eyeliner,  Garnier Moisture Rescue Cream for Dry Skin, Rimmel Taupe eyeliner and Maybelline's Coral Lipbalm.

That's all for the hauls, thank you for reading!
